In the hours following the filling, a residual portion of the composite resin used may continue the polymerization reaction that causes the material to harden. Therefore, it is advisable to chew on the treated tooth at least two hours after the restoration has been placed.

During endodontic treatment, the tooth is completely empty and therefore more fragile. For this reason, it's advisable to wait until the root canals have closed and the tooth has been rebuilt before chewing.
